Higher education

Whatever your goal, we’ll help you achieve it, whether that’s Oxbridge, a Russell Group university, a sports scholarship in the USA or a highly competitive degree apprenticeship with a prestigious company such as Airbus.

Our students study a range of courses – there is no typical St Helen’s pathway. Our Upper Sixth last year are now studying 59 different university courses at 31 different universities – of which 80% are Russell Group. There’s an almost 50/50 split between science and humanities subjects studied at university. Do explore our destinations page for more information.

We provide specialist support for our students, from medicine and veterinary medicine to engineering and law. If students are applying for Oxbridge, we run subject-specific programmes for them too. Since 2013 100% of our medics have gained a place at medical school and 39 leavers from 2017-2021 are currently training to be doctors.

Our students are thriving beyond university, too. Their diverse university choices lead to incredible careers, from judges to ambassadors to orthopaedic surgeons. Do take a look at our Kate Scheme to find out how our alumnae network can support you with your degree and career aspirations.

Mrs Heather Darcy, Head of Sixth Form and Higher Education
